It is my pleasure as Medical
Director of WORLDWIDE TRAVEL MEDICAL CONSULTANTS to
present you with the first Newsletter of 2009 and indeed
the first WTMC Newsletter ever.
As a team we have, for a long time, wanted to improve
communication between ourselves and our much valued
corporate clients as well as amongst ourselves within
the team. In the millennium of more and faster
communication technology than ever before it is sad to
notice that the art of communication is at an all time
low causing breakdowns in relationships between
individuals and groups which eventually lead to
war!
Being providers of comprehensive travel health risk
management we are acutely aware of the fact that daily
communication across long distances is even more
difficult than face to face communication. As service
providers to multinational companies we are at no less
risk of losing touch with our clients and our personnel
and contractors than our clients.
This is our attempt to make the world a better place
by sharing some of our knowledge and experience with
you. However, communication is a two way channel and as
such we welcome you to e-mail your thoughts and
questions to us at pa@wtmconline.com
Wishing you a healthy and spiritually fulfilling
2009, |

The present Cholera outbreak on
the northern border of South Africa is no different from the
outbreak in the mid-1800s in London: poor government and the
destruction of water and sanitation infrastructure in Zimbabwe
(in this case) has forced the population to drink from sewage
contaminated water sources. Read more...
All is not what it seems:
Cholera is not only a dreaded disease, but also the name

Travel Doctor | |
| Travel Health Centres fill an
important gap in the practice of medicine. This gap originated
when the needs of an increasingly mobile public travelling
further and faster than ever before could no longer be met by
the compartmentalised disciplines in which medicine was
practiced. Read more.. |

In our next issue we will publish interesting
photos provided by the men and women on our various projects
in Africa and elsewhere. These pictures will be either nature
shots or pictures of the projects they work on. An overall
winner will be selected at the end of the year, and the best
pictures submitted will be used in promotional
events/materials. Be on the lookout for the pictures submitted
in the next issue of this newsletter.
